At the Museum of Bagatti Valsecchi the Surface Tension Lamp is installed in an 18th century environment, full of art and furniture from the period.

Nacho Carbonell continues on with the playfulness of his Booo bulb by creating a mobile structure to hang the Booo bulbs. To balance the Booo bulbs there is a counterweight on the other side in the form of a single iron casted Booo bulb.

The counterweight can also be pulled down and used as a paperweight or what ever your heavy needs may be. Moving around the arrangement and height of the Booo bulbs results in an unexpected play of light.

Formafantasma designed a clever system of hooks and laces to create an almost invisible chandelier. The Booo bulbs are suspended in midair in an imaginary forest.

The sophisticated simplicity of this concept allows the Booo chandelier to serve as a standalone piece in your home or by combining several chandeliers, create a forest of delicate white lit leaves in a restaurant, hotel or other public place.

The Booo store was well represented here at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, a favourite amongst seasoned visitors of the Milan design week. Visitors were able to try out all of the Booo bulbs and purchase them. We also presented an installation with two of the Surface Tension Lamps and the first two of a new range of chandeliers commissioned by Booo.

Booo bulbs were presented in full force here at our store with many different kinds of shapes, materials and combinations possible. On the right you see a close up of the Booo bulb by Front (large). The beautiful warm light emitting from the bulbs was a perfect fit for the homely environment of our exhibits walls and floors.

Our Booo Map of Milan conveniently displays all of the other Booo exhibitions throughout the city, from the Furniture fair to new progressive design areas such as Ventura Lambrate.

Globe light by Nacho Carbonell

Inspired by the four classical elements, earth, wind, fire and water, Nacho Carbonell has incorporated subtle references to these through the design of his hand made lightbulb in an ingenious way, water in the bulb creates a sea-like light reflection from the light source in its environment. The user can also adjust the amount of air that’s inside the lightbulb by blowing into the corked nozzle. This in turn influences the appearance of the reflection of the water inside the bulb.

This lamp is a direct result out of the Booo Lab, where future lighting products are being developed. Nacho Carbonell created a lamp out of silicone, a material that is soft, easily manipulated by pinching or squeezing and matches the same durable nature of the LED used. The ladder lamp is limited to 50 pieces.

Surface Tension Lamp by Front

A bubble is brief and bursts at your touch. But while it lasts it catches the light and reflects the room like a multi colored temporary structure. We wanted to create a constantly changing lamp that combines the most ephemeral of lampshades with an LED light source that will last for 50000 hours. In the time it takes the LED to burn out, the lamp will have had 3 million different globe shades.

The lamp produces its own lampshade by blowing a soap bubble around the LED. Once the bubble bursts, a new bubble will start to form. The Surface Tension Lamp is designed by Front (Sweden). After further developing it we’ve produced it in a limited edition of 20 pieces.

Nacho used rubber for his user-friendly and unconventional Booo bulb design. It is soft, unbreakable and can be squeezed. The bulb can be used as a stand-alone item, its hand-made quality gives a textured surface that creates a subtle light, establishing tranquillity in any environment. Booo is the first to mass-produce a Nacho Carbonell design.

The traditional shape of a lampshade inspired Front’s design. This Booo bulb merges a lampshade and a light bulb into one stand-alone piece. The Booo bulbs by Front are enclosed structures, they have inner domes that soften the light and create a warm and pleasant atmosphere in the room. It comes in an assortment of three sizes.
